A single solo shore entry dive with Gary of one 302 minute dive. Maximum depth 15.9 m, 26 C water temperature, up to 4 m viz.
Rain is here. And it looks like another 10 days of it. The river is being affected by run-off and has a brown colouration. As I known this top layer is fresh water about one metre thick. Under that the vis is great for macro/micro searching. Today I realised that a yellow hue of ambient light tends to make things look more vivid. Upon arrival at Fish Cage stair only one step was visible in the shallows. I then drove home to get my "GoPro on a long stick". I lowered the camera to the bottom and then reviewed the capture. There in front of me was 2 m of nice dive-able yellow water. So off I went! I'm telling you I was surprised at the finds. Some old friends were seen today - Pteraeolidia semperi. On 08/08/2020 two new Niparya species were recorded together, Niparaya sp. 19 and Niparaya sp. 20 were not mating. Today I recorded the same two species together, WOW! A 25 mm Philinopsis speciosa was seen today, big and beautiful. While moving some white hydroid over to get a Tenellia shot my hand flew over a 100 mm Notobryon sp. 1, brilliant! After 5 hours the tide turned and really got dirty. Yet again another epic dive in the river...
